Start of a big 3 day trip to Acadia National Park in Maine with my daughter and her boyfriend. We started early from Cambridge so we could reach Acadia early afternoon and have time for a hike in the park. Navigating through the streets of Boston continued to be a challenge for me. First stop was a Tesla supercharger stop in Seabrook, New Hampshire. The first charger we plugged into was charging slower than expected, so we switched to another spot which worked much better, closer to the 150kw expected rate. This was the first hiccup at a Tesla supercharger during my 3 weeks driving trip so far. We got breakfast at the nearby Panera Bread, while the Tesla fully charged.
After reaching Acadia around 2pm, stopped at the visitor center to get hiking recommendations. It was quite windy, a side effect of the hurricane that hit Nova Scotia. The forest ranger asked us to avoid the Beehive and Precipice trails today due to high winds.
A highlight of the hike was seeing a small snake right next to our rocky path.
The rocky steps on this trail are never ending. This rest stop above the rocky steps was cool.
Next stop after Sieur de Monts was Sand Beach. After walking on the beach for a while, we did the Ocean Path to Thunder Hole hike. The rock formations along the Ocean Path are spectacular and in my view, one of the best spots in Acadia.
Tired and exhausted after the hikes for the day, we drove to Bar Harbor to find a good place for dinner. There are a lot of restaurants, but lots of people too, resulting in long waits at most places. Reached our AirBnb cottage quite late. Acadia is very popular and busy and the availability of hotels and AirBnbs is quite limited. We took a chance on this brand new listing, without the benefit of reviews from others. The cottage turned out to be quite nice, with a nautical theme, and very spacious.
The raw numbers for the day:
- 313 miles driving, 16200 steps walking
- 2 Tesla supercharger stops
- 3 states - Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine
I love the photos with y'all together. :) You look like you had lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for seaside rock formations. The tafoni at Salt Point State Park is still part of my laptop background, and more recently the tide pools & mini-bays of Kauai's Maha'ulepu trail were delightful.
